Made of Bricks.

Soooo, I'm starting my final year of uni today! Scary stuff! So I have made these little brick earrings to wear! The perfect earrings for designing buildings in at Architecture School. The bricks are from a toy building set I had when I was younger. The teifoc sets have mortar and clay bricks to build little toy houses that you can then take apart and build into something else. I never managed to finish mine as my dad (who is a builder and brick layer) basically pulled a wall that had gone a bit skew-wiff apart as it wasn't very structurally stable. So the set was just sitting in the attic not being used and now at last I have found a use for them!

Let's paint it purple.

So when I get bored I set myself mad and random projects, much to the disgust of the parents. A few years ago they were about to throw away a perfectly good chair, that my mum had for some reason previously painted with gloss and made a green corduroy seat cover for. Clearly one of those odd late 80's early 90's decorating decisions. So as I needed a chair for my room at uni (the landlord had only supplied us with garden chairs for our desks) I painted it purple!! And carrying on from that summers mad patchwork phase I made a patchwork seat cover. The chair now sits in pride of place in my room, much better than going to the dump.

"FANTASTIQUE!" flower pots!

These are some little flower pot earrings I made, using beads, wire and some teeny tiny flower pots. I tried them out in green and lilac wire and I'm still torn as to which I like more. I love the brightness and reality of the green wire but can never say no to anything vaguely purple especially when its so silvery and shiny.

The reason I call them "FANSTASTIQUE" flower pots has a bit of a storey behind it. While out at nocturne in a little french town, where all the artisan shops are open until midnight, I was trying to make my way through a crowd when a french lady was midway through squishing past me turned to my ears and said "Fantastique!" As she took me by surprise, and being slightly socially awkward, I just stared at her blankly briefly before she gave me a thumbs up and I managed to mumble "merci" or something along those lines...

And thank you to my pretty little sister for being my model.

Bunting bunting everywhere...

One thing I love to make a space look more homely is bunting!! Moving too and from home and uni rooms means you end up having too homes and I found that streamers and bunting are the perfect way to make a room my own, filling the empty space caused by not being allowed to put things on the walls with colour and pretty patterns.

I have bunting that I have bought as well as having made a lot myself and having some made for me. I adore it! And as Im moving back to bath next week I am looking forward to adorning another room and making it mine.

This is my favourite bunting I have made, using remnants from my local fabric shop. I love the creamy  and gold colours with little details of labels and lace trims. So pretty! Adding little labels made from the logos and text from the edges of fabrics adds extra details gives the bunting more character I found rather than just simple uniform triangles.

Remnants are one of my favourite things I have so many bags full I could create thousands of quilts and all kinds of mad clothes although I have to resist most of the time, or I think my dad would kill me.
